Curriculum planning
Our child-centred curriculum focuses on biliteracy and trilingualism and integrates education of 6 domains, namely ethics, intellect, physique, social skills, aesthetics and spirit. The curriulum allows flexibilty and sufficient learning space for children, so as to inspire children to think and to encourage them to play to their potential.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
Learning / Teaching approach and activities
Our school adopts an integrated activity approach to our teaching. Our child-centred teaching allows children to learn through play and helps them develop social skills and team spirit. We teach students according to their abilities, to help them reach their potential. For various themes, we take the children to visit different places for on-site teaching so that they can acquire knowledge from actual experiences. Each week, native speakers will teach English and Mandarin to help the students learn these languages in a natural and enjoyable atmosphere. Each level will be suitable to the abilities of the students (K1, K2 and K3). Various teaching methods will be employed to ensure an interesting and pleasant teaching environment. The goal is to produce a tri-lingual student that is comfortable using three languages when needed. We also have various teams like Seedlings of Christ and Happy Bee to foster children's ethics and team spirit. By joining these teams, children get the opportunity to serve the community and to develop a positive outlook on life.
Assessment of children’s learning experiences
Through assessment of continuous observeration, bimonthly reports on the Chinese and English languages and the child's development portfolio, we let parents comprehend their children's development and learning situation.
School Characteristics
School vision and mission
Our Vision: Upholding Christ's love and following the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary's kindness and reverence for the Lord, we foster children to cherish life and to have positive outlook on life.
Support to students
For new student adaptation, the kindergarten arranges new students' play day and new student adaptation period within different times of student admission. For other current students, the kindergarten arranges talks for primary school admission, visits, in-school primary school life simulation, seminars and referral services to provide support to children and parents in need, all according to different themes and time intervals. For transition from kindergarten to primary school, school sponsoring bodies have created a "Through-train" for Catholic schools in Tung Chung. Throuch close collaboration between the schools, children may have a smooth transition to primary school, adapt to new learning evironment and accept the challenges.
