Curriculum planning
Focusing on child-centredness, our curriculum places emphasis on developing children’s knowledge, skills, values and attitudes. The curriculum involves six learning areas, providing all-rounded, balanced and appropriate education, while at the same time nurtures children’s development in Moral, Cognitive and Language, Physical, Affective and Social, as well as Aesthetic. Eventually we aim to provide appropriate care to meet children’s development on growth, ability, interest and experience. We respect the individuality of each child and will exercise flexibility in teaching. Special subject teachers will be arranged to enforce activities on biliteracy and trilingualism.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
Learning / Teaching approach and activities
Our curriculum focuses on the requirement of children. We aim at nurturing children’s interest in learning, emphasizing on developing their biliteral ability. Our curriculum includes different learning themes, initiating children to solve problems and explore through stories, cultivating children’s creativity, which in turn enriching their learning experiences. Our classes will involve both indoor and outdoor activities. Classes will come in different forms, providing picture books learning and online parent-child reading programme. Through English and Chinese book recommendations, giving reading guides for parents,we promotes reading culture and foster children to love reading at an earlier stage. Various interest corners has been set up in classrooms. Through learning with five senses, children will explore new knowledge through games and activities. By cooperation with HighScope group learning, children will achieve knowledge in the form of “plan, do and review”, cultivating them as active learners.
Assessment of children’s learning experiences
We adapt both formative and summative assessment, which includes reports on knowledge, skills, values and attitudes. Through daily observation and different teaching themes, teachers will assess children’s continuous development, providing reports on project learning, picture book activities, behavioral observation and work analysis. Assessment reports will be distributed twice a year, summarizing children’s overall learning development. Learning Portfolio with all reports and photos of children in various learning activities will be distributed.
