Curriculum planning
Based on picture book instruction, we design a wide range of learning activities. We arrange the curriculum contents according to children’s physical and mental development, interests and abilities and integrate eight intelligences and nine generic skills in the curriculum. Moreover, we integrate visual arts, PE and music elements into picture book instruction and design all-dimensional and creative comprehensive art curriculum to cultivate children’s creativity. Moreover, we select themes for scientific inquiry games from picture book contents and life and design scientific experiments and games to let children learn from exploration and experiment and acquire scientific knowledge, improve children’s thinking and problem solving abilities and stimulate children’s curiosity. Dedicated to the tenet of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to move towards a green organisation, we add environment protection education in daily curriculum, create a green school atmosphere, enhance children’s environmental protection knowledge and hold a variety of parent-child environmental protection activities, so as to extend environmental protection message to the families and let children practice a green life. Our professional Mandarin and foreign English teachers help children master Mandarin and basic knowledge of English through such interesting activities as stories, songs and dramas, so as to improve children’s biliterate and trilingual competences.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
